Christopher B. Jones serves as a member of the Harrisonburg City Council. Formerly serving as the Mayor of Harrisonburg, Councilman Jones is in his second term as an elected official.
His civic involvement, in addition to City Council, includes serving on the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce Board and the Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance Board. Along with numerous other Committee and Board roles, he has also dedicated himself to working closely with the City’s Economic Development initiatives and local businesses. Over the past two years, he has frequently been recognized and applauded for his vision and leadership as one of the founders of a Black and Brown Business Growth Program in his region.
Jones is the recipient of numerous awards. In 2020, he received the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service Award presented by Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc. for his contributions to the betterment of the City of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County, Virginia; and the Harrisonburg Rockingham Chamber of Commerce Diversity in Business leadership award.
A native of Danville, Va., Jones graduated from James Madison University with a bachelor’s in sociology and a minor in business. A husband and father of four, Jones is a proud member of Omega Psi Phi, Fraternity Incorporated.
